Is Weight Loss Hypnosis Successful?

For a steadily increasing number, the secret to losing weight permanently, is more about the mental approach, and changing relationship habits with food. It is for this reason that weight loss hypnosis is extolled by many to be an effective treatment. Some argue against this, but can it actually be effective?

When correctly practiced, hypnosis induces the patient to relax their mind, and focus on the problem in hand. Removing any external influences and thoughts, the part of the mind controlling the causes of the weight issue, can essentially be reprogrammed.

Most successful therapies seem to use a blend of weight loss hypnotherapy, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. This allows for both the root causes to be unlocked, and for suggestions and thoughts planted to block them or amend them. Naturally, the mind will send signals to the mouth and stomach when desired food is seen. By replacing these positive thoughts, with negatives, a sense of distaste and dislike will be projected.

Positive instruction can also work in some cases, which create a sense of good feeling and desire, when healthy foods are seen, to promote a more balanced diet. The repeating of this process gradually develops a good habit.

Whilst response varies from patient to patient, it is important to understand that weight loss hypnosis will only be successful with the patient giving absolute commitment. Any suggestions and attitude changes discussed, can only work if the patient allows them to. It is not a treatment that will work of its own accord; it is something that will open the path for the patient to heal themselves.

Struggling with a weight issue can be an immense battle and ask for a complete change in lifestyle. There are many avenues out there to seek help from however. Before agreeing to any treatments, ensure you have consulted your doctor, and discussed all available routes for you to try.
